Ten-Minute Picnic

On Saturday, the temperature rose above fifty degrees, so we spontaneously decided to pack a basket full of munchies and venture out for an afternoon picnic in the park. I am a very enthusiastic picnic-goer, and in this case, an overzealous one, too. Just as we got all cozy and comfortable on the grass, a storm cloud settled directly above us, completely blocking out the sun. Needless to say, we wolfed down our food and booked it home, where we huddled under a blanket and broke out dessert. That first photo shows the ominous cloud moving in. The other three were snapped within a five-minute period preceding it.

Despite its ill-timed appearance, I really do like the rain. It helps the earth come back to life again, as evidenced by the above.

  11. Ah, the good old "speed" picnic. Poo on those rain clouds that crashed the party but it sure was fun while it lasted ;)

  12. You take what time you can get picnicking right? I'm definitely investing in a basket this year. I just have to find the perfect one. Let's plan a nice little picnic brunch this summer, yes? I know a lovely spot in Central Park.

  15. 10 minute picnic = brilliant idea. i am such a nutty picnic lover that a picnic in any form for any amount of time will suffice. ken bought us a picnic basket kit on craigslist last year and we just used it for the first time in yosemite and loved it. :) cheers for rain and spring!

  20. i know this is ridiculous to say, but jon and i have never had a picnic together. we've done with friends, but never just the two of us. it's on my "life list" of things for us to do...just haven't gotten around to it yet so naturally i'm inspired and impressed by your 50+ degree 10-minute picnic. I'll have to let you know when I finally get around to doing one myself!
