Miscellany

I walked all the way to Whole Foods and back for that $4 mini rose bouquet. It was dreary and rainy, and all I had was $7 in my wallet, out of which I promptly spent $3 on a hot coffee before setting my sights on a little bunch of color from the supermarket.

Later that same night, we drove 30 miles to pick up a new-to-us coffee table (not pictured). I'm not supposed to be looking for furniture until we know for sure where we're moving, but the never-ending coffee table search is a running joke in our home. So, when I happened to stumble upon a classic wooden beauty for only $15 (say what!), I couldn't resist. Someone please tell me how in the world I ever fathomed a $500 budget as reasonable for a new table from Pottery Barn/Crate & Barrel/West Elm? That's just plain dumb when you have the new york metro-area craigslist at your disposal.

Plus, now I can utilize the "bonus" cash for art. Or more flowers, naturally.

(Or, my 401k, according to my financially-responsible husband).

    1. thank you, elizabeth! and yes, I could hardly believe my luck. I never have luck on craigslist, so I'm hoping this is a good omen for more to come.

  4. Cheers for craigslist furniture. Our couch is the solitary piece of furniture we own that *wasn't* found on craigslist. Ok, and our mattress...but still!
